Tendai Mtawarira is not coming home yet, and looks set to take his place in the starting line-up to face Scotland this Saturday.

Supersport’s Gavin Rich reports that the Beast joined his teammates for their flight from Dublin to Edinburgh, instead of taking a flight to London, which would have seen him coming home.

Mtawarira was withdrawn from the South African line-up to face Ireland on Saturday after a recurrence of a heart palpitation problem, which put his rugby career in doubt a few seasons ago.

Mtawarira was replaced by CJ van der Linde in the starting line-up, but it was the replacement prop Heinke can der Merwe that really impressed, and it will be interesting to see how Heyneke Meyer shuffles his team accordingly.

  • I am not sure what CJ is doing there. His claim before was that he could cover both sides of the scrum, but with the 23rd player coaches can pick specialists.

  • Is Guthro injured? Sorry I’ve been out of the loop these last few weeks.

  • A new report on rugby 365 suggests that Beast will be coming back to Durban as a precautionary measure. 🙁
