England will face the Boks on Saturday with a new-look side, as coach Stuart Lancaster has welded a heavy axe following last SAturday’s home loss against the Wallabies.

The big talking point is the inclusion of young lock Joe Launchbury in the starting line-up for the first time, where he’ll go head-to-head with another young enforcer in Eben Etzebeth. Launchbury replaces Tom Palmer, with Ben Morgan (8), Tom Wood (7) and Alex Corbisiero (1) all coming in for starts as well.

Amongst the backs, Mike Brown comes in at left wing, while hooker Tom Youngs will play alongside his brother, scrumhalf Ben, for the first time in a test, with the latter preferred to Danny Care this week.

England: 15 Alex Goode, 14 Chris Ashton, 13 Manu Tuilagi, 12 Brad Barritt, 11 Mike Brown, 10 Toby Flood, 9 Ben Youngs, 8 Ben Morgan, 7 Chris Robshaw (captain), 6 Tom Wood, 5 Geoff Parling, 4 Joe Launchbury, 3 Dan Cole, 2 Tom Youngs, 1 Alex Corbisiero.
Replacements: 16 David Paice, 17 David Wilson, 18 Mako Vunipola, 19 Mouritz Botha, 20 James Haskell, 21 Danny Care, 22 Owen Farrell, 23 Jonathan Joseph.

  • Not a great team but they could hurt the Boks if the Boks are complacent.
