Super Rugby 2013 will have extended half time breaks, moving from the conventional 10 minutes to 12 minutes. The reason for this change is to maximise television revenue, as extra adverts will be sold for the half time slot.
SANZAR made the announcement on Thursday and will take effect from the first match of the season, which is the Robels taking on the Force in a first round clash, a first round that will only see Australian teams taking part. This is due to the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia later in the year.

Lol, gives us more time to refill the BeerMugs! haha
“to maximise television revenue”
That’s just pathetic
Makes sense, money makes the world go round anyway. I would be more upset if it was introduced during each half like the Varsity cup trialed.
@G West (Comment 1) : Definitely sounds goood to me.
Since my wife only eats ‘burnt offerings’ (I’m a medium-to-rare man myself), I’ll finally be able to get a proper braai done at half-time
What about the extra prop on the bench?
@FireTheLooser (Comment 2) :
I have no problem with it, they can increase it to 15min for more revenue if it means less games for the players(yes I know it won’t happen) š
@Pokkel (Comment 6) : That’s probably why I am disgusted with it, when I read the first line I thought the break was extended for the players’ well being, only to find the fat cats at the top are demanding more cream.
