Thumbs held for Deysel

Sharks flanker Jean Deysel, who’s been one of the team’s more impressive campaigners during their opening three fixtures, was forced form the field after just 20 minutes of his side’s weekend win over the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth.

Deysel, who has had a torrid time with injury over the last few seasons, has finally been back to his best form with both of his knees now functioning as intended. Bitter was the blow, then, to pick up an ankle injury in the early stages of the win against the Kings.

The seriousness of the injury is not known at this stage, but Deysel will undergo a scan in Durban today to assess the damage and determine the prognosis. We’re obviously really disappointed for Deysel and are holding thumbs for a positive result later on.

  • Has been the best South African flank ,closely followed by Siya. The two would make a sick pairing.

All the best to Deysel, ankle injuries aren’t as serious as knee injuries I would think.

  • The Sharks seem to take forever when it comes to disclosing injuries. We knew about Brian yesterday already.

  • why is no one making a fuss about the queens blatantly stealing our jerseys? even the grey insert and white trim? to me, that is the worst slapgat daft thing ever. we have a 100 year legacy ffs. Shouldnt it be taken to the IRB? Its a brand, not just a jersey. You cant open a burger joint called McBoobles and then put a big giant M at the front door. That shit is protected. And Sorry but the last time this happened to us, Alan Solomons was also there…..

  • @Bokhoring (Comment 5) : Lappies for me slightly edges all SA flankers this season, he looks really good, keen to see how he progresses, think he’d add something new to the Bok setup. I know it’s still early but looks promising.

  • @West Indies Cricket Board (Comment 4) : It’s Alan Solomons. Twice now he’s thumbed his nose at a hundred years of Sharks history with the Stormers wearing black in 1999 and now with the Kings.

  • @CapeShark (Comment 11) : that is why i cant respect the kings and never will. the one and only reason. Their partisipation in the comp in the first place can be debated for years, but then going and ripping off an established brand!!! screw that. I sincerely hope the Chiefs finally give these punks what they deserve

  • This bitching about other teams playing in black is ridiculous. 🙄

Just take a while, go sit on your own and quietly and rationally think about it. 🙄

  • @McLovin (Comment 19) : Not so ridiculous and you know it. Plenty teams play in blue, none look like carbon copies ok? Since there is nothing I can do about it, I wont bring it up again. Otherwise fantastic win against Chiefs. Jantjies already looking more settled.

  • @McLovin (Comment 21) : amazing role reversal from 2012 between sharks and strmrs at this stage. Stormers will be fine. Def going to make a plan to visit Cape Town for the rematch. For some reason, never been to Newlands. Hear its awesome
