Sharks prop Jannie du Plessis appears to have joined brother Bismarck on the injury list, with a recurrence of an old knee injury limiting his involvement (and dare we say effectiveness) against the Brumbies on Saturday.
Coach John Plumtree has admitted that the big Bok struggled with his knee during the game, leading to his replacement shortly after half time, revealing that du Plessis will undergo a scan today, with prognosis and length of rehabilitation to follow from that.
It’s a safe bet that Jannie won’t be fit to face the Rebels this weekend, with Wiehahn Herbst set to start at tighthead. Other changes are likely to see hooker Kyle Cooper and lock Pieter-Steph du Toit come into the starting line-up after, like Herbst, they impressed as substitutes against the Brumbies.

Herbst is looking good.
No injury is ever good.
But Jannie has to get the French Agent’s promises out of his head before coming back onto the pitch.
Jannie should have been yanked the second he got injured. A lot of research has been done that indicates that it is better to immediately start treatment rather than wait, and that it is better to rest than strain an injured limb.
Poor management on the Sharks’ behalf and Jannie too should have known better (Although maybe not, my brother says that Jannie was almost never in class! lol!)
Any ideas on Wiilem and Bismarcks’ return.
@King Shark (Comment 3) : 😛
@SteelShark (Comment 4) : doesn’t sound like any time soon, based on what Plum’s said…
@SteelShark (Comment 4) : It was a sad sight to watch Keegan having to run crashball.
