Injuries to flyhalf Johan Goosen and flank Frans Viljoen have forced Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske to change his winning team, as they take on the Force this weekend.

Goosen will be out of the game for an extended period after injuring his knee in a freak training ground accident; his place in the run-on side goes to Riaan Smit, with Burton Francis coming onto the bench as flyhalf cover.

A change at loose forward sees Bok fetcher Heinrich Brüssow come in at 6 for the injured Viljoen, with Boom Prinsloo added to the bench.

The Cheetahs could make history this weekend by winning a third tour match, for the first time ever.

Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Willie le Roux, 13 Johan Sadie, 12 Robert Ebersohn, 11 Raymond Rhule, 10 Riaan Smit, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Phillip van der Walt, 7 Pieter Labuschagne, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Francois Uys, 4 Lodewyk de Jager, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Trevor Nyakane.
Replacements: 16 Ryno Barnes, 17 Coenie Oosthuisen, 18 Rynhard Landman, 19 Johannes Prinsloo, 20 Piet van Zyl, 21 Burton Francis, 22 Ryno Benjamin.

  • Expect Le Roux to come into the flyhalf position a lot more in broken play. To me he is really wasted on the wing

  • @Bokhoring (Comment 1) : Agreed, but he isn’t wasted on the wing at all, as he roams alot, and when he gets a bit of space he is deadly. That we we can have the solid Daniller coverng the back.

We also need a relaible goal kicker in place, and both le Roux and Smit can fulfill that rol.
