SANZAR CEO Greg Peters, responding to queries from Morne and myself via Twitter, has poured cold water on two of SARU’s proposed sanctions against the Kings.
Regarding either suspension or docking of competition log points, Peters has confirmed that neither will happen, since only SANZAR can impose a sanction that affects “the competition as a whole”. SARU can thus not act unilaterally against the Kings in any way that will affect competition participation or log standings.
Furthermore, Peters has confirmed that it is “not our [SANZAR’s] rules that have been breached” in this case. Reading between the lines, the worst that SARU can do to the Kings this season is institute a fine. Antagonising the national body any further, though, is unlikely to help their case for Super Rugby inclusion in years to come.

No surprise really.
@McLovin (Comment 1) : not really… makes Roux look a bit stupid though.
@robdylan (Comment 2) : SARU lookong stupid is no surprise either. 😈
Feel sorry for the Kings as they will no doubt end up paying the price for SARU’s bumbling. 😐
In other words, SARU really don’t have a clue how they will punish the Kings 🙄
Kings called their bluff and guess what: nothing 😳 😆 🙄

Speaking to the Sharksworld website, Peters confirmed that SARU does not have the jurisdiction to suspend the Kings . . .
@Die Kriek (Comment 5) : haha.. Love it 🙂
Any incentive to include Argentine players is good for the game IMO.
That said, I hope clarity is provided for all from hereon.
I think Cheeky knew this all along….. 👿
@Die Kriek (Comment 5) : @robdylan (Comment 6) : +1 😆
Kings can do what ever they want and nothing will happen to them.

According to Rugby 365:
Kings back down in foreign stand-off
At a brief press conference held at the airport, Watson confirmed that the Kings would be recalling Argentinean loose forward Tomas Leonardi and French hooker Virgile Lacombe from the touring squad.
Hooker Edgar Marutlulle and loose forward Devin Oosthuizen will replace them.

Not really sure what the fuss is all about, to be honest. So what, kings had a kiwi in their team when they played the chiefs, chiefs had 22?
@Greg (Comment 18) : 😆
This weekend Parkes will be a local player anyway
@Greg (Comment 18) : 😆
the Kings are the problem child of SA Rugby… 😀
