Cheetahs name an unchanged team

The Cheetahs maintained some continuity in naming the same team that managed a victory over the Force in Australia last week. Aside from injuries Naka Drotske has mostly stuck with the same players for the first few games and having won 3 from 4 on tour, you can’t blame him for putting his confidence in this group.

The Cheetahs are up against the Rebels who took a beating against the Sharks in their previous game and if the Cheetahs can manage a victory in their first game back at home, it will be only the 2nd time in their history that they have gone on a 4 game winning streak.

The Cheetahs has lost their star fly-half, Johan Goosen to a season ending injury, but Riaan Smit did a decent job in filling in that spot last week. Willie le Roux has also taking a lot of the distributing responsibilities on himself and will look to continue in that role in Goosen’s absence.

The Cheetahs have surprised with their performances so far and will be hoping to continue this run to push for their first play-off spot this year. Sarel Pretorius, returning from a one year stint with the Waratahs, has been integral with his sniping runs and quick distribution.

The Cheetahs have also welcomed back Heinrich Brussow after and extended injury lay-off and will be hoping that he can stay injury free this season, as he has also made a big impact since his return.

The Cheetahs will be wary of a fighting Rebels side after their humiliation in Durban and will have to be careful not to under estimate the team from Melbourne.

  • I feel for Goosen. Hopefully he gets to heal properly.

  • I see the tjietas have imported grass from NZ for their stadium.

They should have gone for Oz grass, after the run they had over there. 😉
