In something of a remarkable story, Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has revealed that Bok wing Bryan Habana looks likely to recover from his knee injury in time to join the Stormers on their tour at the end of this month.

When Habana picked up the injury early in the season, many felt that the longs injury lay-off would bring down the curtain on his career in the Cape, given that he’s already announced his departure for Toulon in France on completion of the Super Rugby season. While having accomplished great things in the light blue of the Bulls, it’s often been felt that Habana has battled to scale quite the same heights in a Stormers jersey and looks set to become yet another in a long line of big money “imports” to leave the Cape side without ever really justifying the pay cheque.

For Stormers fans, though, it’s good to know that Habana will, at least, pull on the jersey a few more times before departing.

In other injury news, the Stormers look set to be without either Gerhard van den Heever or Rynhardt Elstadt for this weekend’s clash against the Cheetahs, after both picked up injuries during Saturday’s loss to the Crusaders.

  • Since he’s leaving anyways, might as well play him until the body breaks down totally. 😈

  • You’re right Rob – he hasn’t done that well with the Stormers at all. It’s almost as though he was marking time.Maybe their playing pattern doesn’t suit his style of play…like pass the ball to the wings.Be rough luck if he does come back and injure himself overseas because he came back too early.
