Meyer joins the 100 club

Sharks centre Meyer Bosman will play his 100th Super Rugby game against the Crusaders on Friday night.

Bosman amassed an impressive 61 caps for the Cheetahs before joining the Sharks in 2011. In a career in black and white that has had its shares of ups and down, he’s now poised to make his 39th appearance for the Sharks and it’s ironic that the Crusaders will be in opposition; in the eyes of many a supporter, Bosman is still struggling to redeem himself after something of a nightmare on defence against the Canterbury side, when the teams played at Twickenham two years ago.

Over the course of two seasons, though, Meyer has established himself as a credible option at both flyhalf and centre and was instrumental for the Sharks in the run-up to last year’s Currie Cup final. Based on current form – that being his last outing against the Rebels – he’s looking to be in pretty good nick and at only 27 years of age, could easily go on to 150 or more.

Other Sharks approaching big milestones are Odwa Ndungane, playing his 96th Super Rugby game (10 of those were for the Bulls) and JP Pietersen, his 93rd. They look a good bet to join Jacques Botes (playing his 111th) and Jannie du Plessis (playing his 104th) in the Sharks Centurion Club this year.

  • DEFENCE will have to be sound against the Whitelocks… no slip ups, as usual, they will punish you if you slip 1 or 2 tackles…

  • Well Done Bossie.

I expect a huge performance from him this weekend.

He knows he`s gonna get a lot of gametime with Whitehead out and Frans on the bench as tighthead prop cover. 😈
