The Kings continue on their maiden Super Rugby tour, still chasing that elusive first away win.

The concern I have is that Jake White’s Brumbies will not be in a charitable mood.

Kick-off is at 10h40 SA time.

Brumbies: 15 Robbie Coleman, 14 Henry Speight, 13 Tevita Kuridrani, 12 Pat McCabe, 11 Joe Tomane, 10 Christian Lealiifano, 9 Nic White, 8 Fotu Auelua, 7 George Smith, 6 Ben Mowen (captain), 5 Etienne Oosthuizen, 4 Peter Kimlin, 3 Dan Palmer, 2 Siliva Siliva, 1 Ben Alexander.
Replacements: 16 Stephen Moore, 17 Scott Sio, 18 Sam Carter, 19 Colby Faingaa, 20 Ian Prior, 21 Andrew Smith, 22 Zack Holmes.

Southern Kings: 15 George Whitehead, 14 Sergeal Petersen, 13 Waylon Murray, 12 Andries Strauss (captain), 11 Ronnie Cooke, 10 Demetri Catrakilis, 9 Nicolas Vergallo, 8 Cornell du Preez, 7 Wimpie van der Walt, 6 Devin Oosthuizen, 5 Rynier Bernardo, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Grant Kemp, 2 Hannes Franklin, 1 Schalk Ferreira.
Replacements: 16 Bandise Maku, 17 Kevin Buys, 18 David Bulbring, 19 Jacques Engelbrecht, 20 Shaun Venter, 21 Marcello Sampson, 22 Elric van Vuuren.

  • Kings has started to resemble the Lions.

They fight hard and valiantly but it ultimately comes down to “by how much will they lose”.

  • I will lose a lot of money if the Kings win (technically half of it belongs to Viking, hahahahaha!) but it is a price I would pay to reduce the gap between the Brumbies and us.

  • @Pokkel (Comment 7) : I would LOVE to see them beat the Brumbies, who in my eyes have become public enemy number one.

But the Kings looked good against the Hurricanes too, just to let the game get away from them in the last 20mins.

  • @King Shark (Comment 6) : Well if that is the price we need to pay then so be it. Sounds like a win-win situation to me…

  • @Viking (Comment 11) : Well, one third of what I bet is safe. Brumbies as first half winners.

I also bet a third of our cash on the Brumbies to win and a third on the same winner for each half.

  • @Mutley (Comment 13) : They know to bow down in deference.

Or maybe the Kings are just better than what we give them credit for. I mean, we kinda expect Lions standard rugby but the Kings are a bit better…

  • My word but Whitehead really tried his best to throw the game away for the Kings 🙄

They should and could have won this one. But the draw sure is welcome, Jake’s boys seems to have hit their peak too soon and haven’t looked the same since beating the Sharks.

I hope the Sharks watched this game and realise how woeful they really were to lose against the Brumbies. Draw on that pain tonight.

  • The Kings cannot afford to slip up against the Rebels next week. If they do – the draw today will be regarded as fluke, a off-day for the Brumbies, a lucky day for the Kings.

Be gracious in defeat, but even more gracious in victory (well actually it was just a draw 😉 )

  • Thank you ladies and gentlemen, it’s only a draw, but we’ll take it. It’s our 1st tour and coming away with 3 points in Canberra is huge for Super Rugby debutants, hopefully a win against the Rebels next week and I’ll be reasonably happy
