Sean Everitt has managed to keep changes to a minimum, as his Sharks XV side aims to win their fifth straight match of the season, against Boland this weekend.
The return of S’bura Sithole from the Super Rugby squad bolsters the back three, with the Blitzbok replacing Jaco van Tonder at right wing. Van Tonder will play off the bench, where he’s joined by another talented youngster in Andre Esterhuizen, who hasn’t featured since the first week. The loss of Hanco Venter to the SA under 20 squad sees Tian Meyer start at scrumhalf, with his halfback partner Fred Zeilinga presumably the backup, as there is no other scrumhalf in the 22.
The pack sees the expected rotational change at prop, with Allan Dell moving to loosehead, Maks van Dyk starting at tight and Danie Mienie benched, but is otherwise unchanged from the unit that faced SWD last week.
Changes on the bench see under 19 star Gideon Koegelenberg come into the squad as lock replacement, while Murray Bondesio will provide an additional loose forward option alongside Baby Bok Khaya Majola.
Sharks XV:
15 Gouws Prinsloo, 14 S’bura Sithole, 13 Marius Joubert (capt), 12 Heimar Williams, 11 Sizo Maseko, 10 Fred Zeilinga, 9 Tian Meyer, 8 Tera Mthembu, 7 Brynard Stander, 6 Francois Kleinhans, 5 Peet Marais, 4 Jandre Marais, 3 Maks van Dyk, 2 Monde Hadebe, 1 Allan Dell
16 Franco Marais, 17 Danie Mienie, 18 Gideon Koegelenberg, 19 Khaya Majola, 20 Murray Bondesio, 21 Andre Esterhuizen, 22. Jaco van Tonder

Guessing its not televised? 🙄
@Big Fish (Comment 1) : 16h30 tomorrow afternoon, on KP1…. good guess 🙂
Haven’t watched much Voda yet this year, how are the guys doing so far? I know Fred’s been on fire, but how about the rest? Any new promise to get excited about?
Damit I still wanna see Allan Dell in the Super team.
@Uli (Comment 4) : I second that
Hard to justify playing him thought with Herbst playing so well, but I hope he gets his chance at some point this season, maybe on tour
@Ludz (Comment 5) : Yea true, Herbst is really doing well at the moment.
The game has been moved onto the Stadium. Kick-off remains the same 16:30. Free entrance.
@insider (Comment 7) : Could the reason for the move maybe (hopefully) be so that it can be broadcast?
C’mon Boland!
@insider (Comment 7) : can you please let us know who will start at 8 and who will bench?
Guy Alexander straight in to start at No 8. No other changes. Murray Bondesio is the emergency SH cover as well as loose forward.
@insider (Comment 11) : he’s Michael’s brother, isn’t he?
Yes.
@insider (Comment 13) : interesting indeed. Not a very usual combination that, flank-cum-scrumhalf.
Basically too small for a loose forward but he is good so was fine at school and copes at age group and club level but now finding it increasingly difficult. Related to the Bondesio who is SH at Lions (cousin, I think).
@robdylan (Comment 14) : I think you explanation makes more sense, Fred to cover scrummy with Jaco van Tonder probably cover at 10, he was after all a 10 at school and was only converted at the Academy
Think about it. Why take the best FH in the competition and play him out of position and then put someone at FH who hasn’t played or trained there for at least 4 years?
@insider (Comment 17) : I’m with you. Fred is going to be a Bok in the next 2 years.
@Ludz (Comment 16) : Ludz, insider is called insider for a reason mate 🙂
