Jordaan out as injury crisis deepens

The Sharks have confirmed that Paul Jordaan has suffered a serious knee injury at practice and will miss the rest of the season.

I’m actually lost for words at the moment. Thoughts go out to Paul and the rest of the Sharks squad at this horrendously difficult time.

A replacement will be named in due course.

  • Probably be Jubba i reckon…cover for 12 and 13, and he has the experience.

I’m guessing we might see Steyn at 13 this week…not ideal, but at least JPP will be at 13 next week.

  • @PTAShark (Comment 3) : We do have Piet Lindeque and Viljoen can play 13 too if he has to; but will probably be safer to start Steyn at 13 this week, imo.

  • @PTAShark (Comment 3) : Perhaps. His tendency to carry might be more suited there as it is much looser play than at 12. There is also Lindeque for the time being. I reckon they will have to draw from the XV.

    1. Herbst
    2. Cooper
    3. du Plessis
    4. Bresler
    5. du Toit
    6. Coetzee
    7. Deysel
    8. Daniel
    9. Reinach
    10. Lambie
    11. Viljoen
    12. Bosman
    13. Lindeque
    14. Ndungane
    15. Steyn

    16. Burden
    17. Mienie
    18. van der Merwe
    19. Minnie
    20. Mtembu
    21. McLeod
    22. Sithole

We should go for a 5-2 split because any centre back-up we call up now is going to be to fatigued to play on Saturday.

  • Not that he has been a huge factor this season so far, but just shows you, they need to look at the SR format. Seriously, it can’t all just be due to “accidents”. These guys play far too much rugby.

Sharks had depth deluxe in the beginning of the season, now we have very little to work with!

I get what stef are saying, unfortunately because of his form, it’s not the biggest loss and lindeque or some other might be able to do a better job anyway.

Although, given all the injuries already we’ll maybe realise that Jordaan was actually doing better than we thought.

  • What we have here is the Sharks are reaping the foul harvest that SANZAR has sown with filling up the calender with derbies and teams which should never be close to being in a competition with the word ‘SUPER’ in it.

The sad fact is that SANZAR will never learn until they feel it in their greedy pockets and the only way they’re going to feel that is if Newscorp. come out in 2016 and say that they are not paying as much money for such a watered down competition and would rather invest in a competition like the Heineken Cup. Until then, they will continue to fill the calender with more and more games.
