The worst has indeed been confirmed, with Sharks scrumhalf Cobus Reinach having to return from tour after just one game, as the result of an ankle injury.
Reinach has confirmed via Twitter that he’s on his way back to South AFrica and should arrive in Durban at 7pm today. There hasn’t been a detailed prognosis delivered yet, but an MRI scan early this week is expected to confirm exactly how long he’ll be out of action for. The player himself doesn’t seem to think the injury is too serious, though and is hoping to be fit again by the time the team returns from tour.
No confirmation is yet available as to whether Tian Meyer (or any other scrumhalf) has been sent to New Zealand, however we can confirm that winger Lwazi Mvovo has joined up with the team at their base in Queenstown, New Zealand. Mvovo has made good recovery from his hand injury and although he has joined the team, is not expected to be fit for Saturday’s game against the Highlanders, but should rather come into the frame for the following week’s game against the Reds.

If not Tian Meyer, who then? Is there an international scrummy somewhere that’s available to come help us out?
Unfortunate injury – he has really hit an upward curve this season. I wish him a speedh recovery.
Wont mind seeing JP and Lindeque on the wings this weekend. Odwa should focus on 15 IMO.
tian meyr all the way,pity about reinach
What about Ruan or Rory, can’t we get them on loan, aren’t their European seasons over now?
Fourie du Preez? What’s he doing?
@Letgo (Comment 5) : plays for rovers he hasnt been playing vodacom cup because our youngsters were there but venter and ugerera(spelling) but they gone with the baby boks now or we would use one of them
@Letgo (Comment 5) : He has, hasn’t he?
@Letgo (Comment 4) : du Preez wouldn’t come to the Sharks to save his life I don’t reckon. I could be wrong, but he was always a Bull. I reckon Ruan could come over, and would be able then to be in SA for the Boks in June (not that he should).
@David12246 (Comment 7) : id rather we back our own guys before pulling out the cheque book to get an international to fill in
@Letgo (Comment 5) : Meyer played for the Lions last year as a loan player. He left the Sharks after u21 to join the Pumas.
He’s been with Rovers in the Community cup but has started the last two games for the Sharks XV
@robdylan (Comment 8) : when am i getting my 4th star?
Ruan wouldn’t be available anyway, because Ulster still have a shot at the Pro 12
