A slight injury picked up by in-form centre Jan Serfontein has alleviated a potential headache for Bulls coach Frans Ludeke. Facing a tricky decision regarding the introduction of fit-again Wynand Olivier, Ludeke can put of the difficult decision as to which man is truly first choice in the number 12 jersey for at least a week.

Ludeke has left another youngster, the highly-rated Arno Botha, in no doubt, though, as to his standing in the pecking order. The return of open side Deon Stegmann to fitness sees Dewald Potgieter shifted to the blind side – and Botha relegated to the substitutes bench. In the final change to the starting lineup for the weekend clash against the Hurricanes, Jürgen Visser comes in at fullback in place of Ulrich Beyers.

Changes on the bench see Frik Kirsten and Grant Hattingh both fit again after varying aliments and they replace Hencus van Wyk and Wilhelm Steenkamp respectively. Jacques Potgieter also falls out of the match 22.

Bulls: 15. Jürgen Visser, 14. Akona Ndungane, 13. JJ Engelbrecht, 12. Wynand Olivier, 11. Bjorn Basson, 10. Mornè Steyn, 9. Jano Vermaak, 8. Pierre Spies, 7. Dewald Potgieter, 6. Deon Stegmann, 5. Juandrè Kruger, 4. Flip van der Merwe, 3. Werner Kruger, 2. Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1. Dean Greyling

Substitutes: 16. Willie Wepener, 17. Frik Kirsten, 18. Grant Hattingh, 19. Arno Botha, 20. Francois Hougaard, 21. Louis Fouchè, 22. Lionel Mapoe

  • A fit Serfontein will see Olivier permanently relegated to the bench.
