Two changes for Cheetahs

The Cheetahs will face the Reds in Bloemfontein this weekend with Elgar Watts back at flyhalf, after Burton Francis got himself dropped right out of the 22 after last week’s loss to the Hurricanes.

Fit-again Riaan “True Blue” Smit provides flyhalf cover off the bench this week, leaving Francis to cool his heels in the stands, or perhaps polish up his CV enough to be of interest to the Sharks – the only “big 5” unions he has yet to represent.

The other change to the run-on side sees Lappies Labuschagne named for Francois Uys at blindside flank, although we understand he’ll need to pass a late fitness test to ensure his inclusion. Uys is also gone from the 22, with Boom Prinsloo set to provide loose forward cover off the bench.

Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Willie le Roux, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Robert Ebersohn, 11 Raymond Rhule, 10 Elgar Watts, 9 Piet van Zyl, 8 Philip van der Walt, 7 Pieter Labuschagne, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Francois Uys, 4 Lodewyk de Jager, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Coenie Oosthuizen.
Replacements: 16 Ryno Barnes, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Rynhardt Landman, 19 Johannes Prinsloo, 20 Sarel Pretorius, 21 Riaan Smit, 22 Ryno Benjamin.
