Wynand Olivier is back in the starting line-up for the Bulls’ clash against the Sharks this weekend.

Olivier replaces the injured Jan Serfontein, who drops to the bench. Serfontein and Louis Fouche both have niggles and a final call on their involvement from the bench will be made later in the week.

Apart from a midfield change, we also see Bjorn Basson return to the starting line-up, dropping Lionel Mapoe to the bench for this encounter.

In the continued rotation in the front row, Dean Greyling and Werner Kruger return in the place of Frik Kirsten and Morne Mellett, while Willie Wepener comes onto the bench in place of Callie Visagie.

Bulls: 15 Jürgen Visser, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 JJ Engelbrecht, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Pierre Spies (captain), 7 Dewald Potgieter, 6 Deon Stegmann, 5 Juandré Kruger, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1 Dean Greyling. Substitutes: 16 Willie Wepener, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Grant Hattingh, 19 Arno Botha, 20 Jano Vermaak, 21 Louis Fouché /Jan Serfontein, 22 Lionel Mapoe

  • Yeah. Wish we could just call on a bok centre when one of ours gets injured. Oh wait, we can. Only not when we have 6 broken centers!

  • It’s going to be one hell of a forward battle! I’m hoping Lambie finds his running shoes and makes Steyn grab at air as he ghosts past on his way to the tryline.

  • Poor call, Serfontein should start at 12. Not sure why Ludeke keeps their most impressive loosie in Arno Botha on the bench – madness

  • @Saffex (Comment 3) : I’m happy with those calls as a Sharks supporter. I’d rather face Olivier and Potgieter than Serfontein and Botha.

  • @Saffex (Comment 3) : Serfontein is carrying a niggle as it says in the article. But the Botha ommission boggles the mind – I agree

  • Sharks, Stormers can do the Cheetahs a huge favour by rolling the Bulls and Reds respectively. Bulls have had their byes, which effectively puts them points ahead.

Chiefs and Brumbies could also play a part, which could see the Cheetahs jump from 7th to 4th, provided they win their clash with the Kings.

With my wishlist expressed…… Gooooooo Sharks…….. Go Stormers…..And GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETAHSSSSSS!

  • @sharks4eve2013 (Comment 24) : I think the last Bull that joined the Sharks must have been Andre’ Snyman, and he was a from Dundee anyways. Before that I think Robert Du Preez, I could be wrong. but cant think of anyone else. Oh yes Lance Sherrill, but he was actually from WP anyways, also Kees Lessing but he join a UK club and from Namib anyways before joining the sharks. Cant think of anyone else.

  • We have Reinach and two excellent under 20 scrumhalves in our ranks. Why the hell do you people want to go buy left-overs from the Bulls?

It’s ok to think occasionally, I promise. Won’t hurt you.

  • @Uli (Comment 25) : Houghaard is actually from prooooooovince, and if I’m not mistaken they dropped him for Dewald Duvenhage 😯

  • Comment 29, posted at 23.05.13 10:31:25 by FireTheLooser Reply

  • @robdylan (Comment 28) : It’s that old Sharks syndrome, “why use an exciting talented youngster from your own team setup when you can buy an over the hill senior player”. 🙄

Thankfully that seems to be the one thing that is changing at the Sharks, players are being brought through the ranks from the academy and age group. Only Plum that still prefers using over the hill players from other unions.

That said, I did rate both brothers and was sad to lose them.
