Six uncapped players have made it into Steve Hansen’s squad to take on France in three upcoming tests.

Kieran Read will captain the team in the three match series.Blues players Charles Piutau, Francis Saili and Steven Luatua, Chiefs prop Ben Afeaki, Hurricanes lock Jeremy Thrush and Crusaders flank Matt Todd are the uncapped players in the squad of 32.

Hansen’s inclusion of some out of form players will raise a few eyebrows, Ma’a Nonu and Andrew Hore in the squad despite some poor form recently. Israel Dagg has been one of the worst performing Crusaders, yet still made it into the squad. He will battle it out with Charles Piutau and Beauden Barrett and Ben Smith for the fullback jersey.

The hooking position will also see an interesting battle between Dane Coles, Andrew Hore and Keven Mealamu.

Richie McCaw continues to enjoy his sabbatical from rugby and is only likely to play for the Crusaders in the final weeks of Super Rugby.

Forwards: Dane Coles, Andrew Hore, Keven Mealamu, Ben Afeaki, Wyatt Crockett, Ben Franks, Owen Franks, Tony Woodcock, Brodie Retallick, Luke Romano, Jeremy Thrush, Samuel Whitelock, Sam Cane, Steven Luatua, Liam Messam, Kieran Read (captain), Matt Todd, Victor Vito,
