As expected, Wynand Olivier has been released from his Bulls contract to link up with French club Montpellier.
Even though his contract expires towards the end of the year, he will be allowed to leave upon completion of the Bulls’ Super Rugby campaign.
Olivier has achieved what few other centres in world rugby have, winning the Vodacom Cup, the Currie Cup, Super Rugby trophies and a World Cup.
Olivier commented that he had offers to leave two years ago, but felt he had a duty to help bring the next generation through, which he has done as we now see Francois Venter, JJ Engelbrecht and Jan Serfontein featuring in the Bulls midfield.
