  • Chadwick at lh ahead of Dell, oh boy Chumlee’s going to have a surprise once Plum is gone, he’ll literally and figuratively have to pull up his socks 😈

We all know how High School coaches hammer that into their players. 😈

  • That’s the half-time score.

Ludik has been the player of the half for the Sharks. Hewitt also impressing on debut.

  • Sadly Chumlee is proving to be the liability I always knew he’d be, sadly Herbst is now injured and we’re stuck with Dale.

Really wanna see Dell and Herbst partner up with Cooper.

Btw, was Lourens vd Merwe a primary school teacher before latching onto the whistle? He giggles like a little girl, boy amongst men.

  • at first knowing a B team would come to JHB I didnt think the Sharks would have a chance, yet some individuals did very well indeed. KD has lost popularity with me big time. Something has gone astray there. I picked Lions on Superbrue for win.

  • Now that my blood has stopped booking…….. Who was our coach for the game. There was certainly some good enterprising play that if continues bodes well for the future.

And secondly did anyone read the article on iol re the John Smith take on Plum. All I can say is thank goodness we didn’t get Mallet.

    Have great week end.

  • Comment 43, posted at 22.06.13 08:12:18 by Bayshark Reply

  • @Bayshark (Comment 43) : He basically says what I’ve suspected all this time, Plum is an excellent forwards coach, but a rubbish head coach. Sadly as head coach, his forward coaching also went down the drain.

And seems Rob was kind of correct in assuming that Mallet’s so-called official offer from the Sharks, wasn’t that official after all, as the inquiry was made by Saracens ceo on behalf of Smit on whether Mallet would be willing to coach in SA again.

Also see iol and Mercury keep referring to Brendan’s position as “Director of Coaching”…and from the Mercury it seems Brendan Venter will be coaching the coaches, and not the players, because he won’t be staying in Durban.

That’s a big risk, especially with the all but confirmed new head coach being still very inexperienced.

At least Smit is also saying that he wants many assistant and specialist coaches, which is a good idea.

Interesting that White actually contacted Smit regarding the position.

  • @Big Fish (Comment 45) : yoh, got to say, smiling from ear to ear this morning having read that.

Greenaway’s chirp about Plum being “the people’s champion” or whatever made me throw up in my mouth a bit, but it got better after that.

  • @Big Fish (Comment 45) : I’m excited at the prospect of specialist coaches instead of the typical setup of forward and backline assistant coach.

And Mallet, what a chump. 👿

  • The Sharks had a good side on the park…only missing out a hand full of front line players…no more than the Lions though…in actual fact I think the Lions have more front line players out…Taute, Coetzee, Franco, Jantjes, Mapoe, Whitley, Bezuidenhout, Kriel, etc…
Vs the Sharks Jannie, Beast, Lambie, Steyn, Bosman, Mvovo, Pieter-Speph…
So this was a good test for the Lions…and they did well…feeling positive about the pro/rel games…

  • Comment 55, posted at 22.06.13 18:23:45 by Hmmm Reply

  • @Hmmm (Comment 55) : I’m really enjoying the way the Lions are playing and think they deserved to win the game.

As for the missing players….I count 7 first choice players from the scrum and 5 from the backline, with one first choicer playing out of position, that is a massive 12 (13) of the starting 15 not being there.

  • The Lions did well to beat the Sharks but atleast 12 first choice Sharks missing. I don’t know if the Lions will beat the Kings. Maybe Kings did enough to get a second year in super rugby.
