According to reports on twitter via Eye Witness News, Western Province have agreed terms with Springbok Jaco Taute who is set to sign a 2 year deal with the union.

The Lions loanee played a handful of games for the Stormers during this year’s competition before his season was cut short when he severely damaged his anterior cruciate (ACL) knee ligaments during a match against the Cheetahs.

This signing will obviously offset Joe Pietersen’s move to French Top 14 side, Biarritz.

Agreed. I think an ‘in form’ Taute will be a huge asset to the Stormers and the Boks.

He also offers us an option at 13.

  • @Zibbie (Comment 6) : I totally agree with you, but do you really think after a serious injury like he had he will ever fully recover….Just look at a few players in the past with the same injury….

  • @Big Fish (Comment 14) : Cheslin Kolbe should concentrate on sticking to 7’s leading up to the Olympics.

  • Waist of money!!! Boys head is to big to fit into a decent jersey…province have aplon, colbe, swiel, they should have looked to there center’s would have paid good cash to get Hanekom back…old province problem lets leave our own boys to go Els where, we would rather buy them back expensively or make a offer for the next Bok on the table….super stupid province admin, bunch of teacher running the union…

  • @Big Fish (Comment 14) : Now that would be exciting! I do agree that he probably wants to stick to sevens.
