Remember Conrad Hoffmann, the Western Province scrumhalf who came to the Sharks and hardly played over two years? He is in line for a return to first class rugby. reports that Boland Cavaliers coach Loffie Eloff is hoping that Hoffmann can help out his team’s current dire situation at scrumhalf. Hoffman is currently playing club rugby in Cape Town, for Hamiltons, and is apparently on Eloff’s list of emergency scrumhalves.

Regular scrumhalf Ricky Schroeder is struggling with a shoulder injury, and while he has been named on the bench, a late fitness test may prevent him from taking his spot. Eloff has approached Hamiltons to get Hoffmann to sit on the bench in the case that Schroeder does not regain his fitness.

Should Hoffmann not be released from Hamiltons to cover for Boland, flyhalf Ricardo Croy will cover the nine jersey.

  • I rated Hoffman, but he was a sick-note of note.

  • @Big Fish (Comment 1) : I’ll forever remember his memorable performance in the Currie Cup 2011 final; the steadiness of an egg on a see-saw, coupled with a pass as snappy as continental drift. Can’t say I cried myself to sleep when he departed…
