Bulls lose another to injury

Bulls open-sider Deon Stegmann will miss the entire 2013 Currie Cup competition, due to a shoulder injury.

It’s been reported that the injury, sustained in last weekend’s Super Rugby semi-final defeat at Loftus will require surgery, making it unlikely that the combative former Bok will play rugby again before next season’s Super Rugby competition.

With the Bulls facing a real shortage of leaders in their Currie Cup group, after the departure of eight senior players to overseas clubs, Stegmann was widely tipped to captain the side this year. Bulls Currie Cup coach will now need to find another man to spearhead this campaign, with options hardly lining up around the block.

  • They really do look like they could be a couple of injuries away from truely suffering…

  • So between nr 6 and 15 only Akona Ndungane has proper experience – more than one season at the top.
So the choice is between spending cash on the Kings or using age group players…

  • I’m getting slightly annoyed at what seems like lack of planning from the guys at the top. First Kruger left without the season done, leaving the lineouts a mess, and now another injury leaving the team much like the Sharks’ during super rugby this year, only less experienced and without any loaned guys – yet.
