The good news for former Griquas lock Edwin Hewitt is that he’s done enough in his few Sharks outings to date to secure a long-term contract.
When we spoke to Hewitt a few months back, he confirmed that the Sharks had brought him in very much on an interim basis, so see what he could offer to the team. While it was always anticipated that he would play a big role for the side during the Currie Cup, particularly during the course of Anton Bresler and Pieter-Steph du Toit’s respective injury rehabilitation, there was no longer term clarity as to Hewitt’s situation.
His agent, James Adams of In Touch Sports, has just confirmed that Hewitt has penned a two-year deal with the Sharks, on the basis of his good play and natural fit into the team environment, since making his Super Rugby debut against the Blues.
Well done Edwin – and welcome all over again!

This guy is just about living the dream. What a turn of events in a very short time span.
Congrats Edwin on grabbing this chance with both arms, legs and feet. 😉
