Let’s try to consolidate a few of the injury reports doing the rounds, which should hopefully help our Fantasy League managers, if nobody else.
This week, a few sides should be bolstered by a returning Bok or two, but there have also been some fresh injury concerns coming out after the weekend.
Province are apparently elated that they’ll have Juan de Jongh available for selection this week, but have some concerns over flyhalf Gary van Aswegen and centre Pat Howard; both haven’t trained yet this week, but should be ok for the weekend, depending on how fitness tests go.
Their opponents Griquas haven’t reported any fresh injury concerns, but have, of course, lost prop Lourens Adriaanse to the Bok cause. They’ll be looking to former Sharks XV player Nic Schonert to make a big step up as a starting option.
The Bulls appear to the the hardest hit at this stage; they’ve confirmed that utility forward Jean Cook and prop Frik Kirsten will be out of action for some time due to hand and ankle injuries respectively, while hooker Callie Visagie looks to also be in quite serious doubt. The likes of Vleis Engelbrecht and Bandise Maku should thus come into the selection frame for this weekend’s match against the Lions. There’s also a chance that Akona Ndungane could be fit.
The Lions haven’t said anything regarding injuries, nor have the Cheetahs, although we know that the team from Bloem will welcome back Trevor Nyakane, but lose Piet van Zyl this week.
The Sharks will definitely be without Odwa Ndungane, while Marco Wentzel and Brynard Stander are also a little doubtful for this weekend. They will welcome back Keegan Daniel, Sizo Maseko and Tim Whitehead, though.

Lions welcome back Franco vd Merwe, should do wonders for our set pieces…
