Plenty changes for the Lions

The Lions team to face Griquas this weekend sees a few changes are injuries strike.

In the front row we see two changes, CJ van der Linde and Willie Wepener dropping to the bench and being replaced by Jacques van Rooyen and Robbie Coetzee respectively. In the second row, Willie Britz reverts to eigthman while Ruan Venter takes his place as lock. Lambert Groenewald drops out of the match 22 altogether while Jaco Kriel replaces Warwick Tecklenberg, who drops to the bench as well.

Tian Meyer replaces Guy Cronje as scrumhalf, the Lions finally able to field a fit scrummie. Guy Cronje drops out of the match 22 while his brother Ross comes in as scrumhalf cover. The only other change to the backline is Andries Coetzee who starts in place of Deon Helberg, who drops to the bench.

The changes on the bench are as described above, with Ruhan Nel being included as an extra backline player.

  • Glad to see Ruan Venter in the set up. He can be the Lions new enforser if he remains fit. I’m happy Meyer gets a start. Good Lions team

  • Johan Ackermann is working on building depth for next year, that’s all I can read in the number of changes he makes each week, most not injury forced.

  • Coetzee is a class act much like SP Marais is. Coetzee should be at 15. I’d move Boshoff to 12.

    About time Kriel started, complete madness that he has not in some matches
