Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske hasn’t tinkered too much with his starting lineup for this weekend’s Currie Cup clash against the Sharks in Durban, with only returning lock Lood de Jager bolstering the unit that will initially take the field.

De Jager reclaims the number 4 jersey from Teboho Mohoje, who moves into the number 18 jersey this week. It’s the replacement bench, though, that shows the most changes.

Wian du Preez, Ethienne Reyneke, Freddy Ngoza, Tertius Daniller, Kevin Luiters and Piet Lindeque are all gone this week, making Willie du Plessis the only survivor from last week’s replacements. AJ le Roux and Schalk van der Merwe crack the 22 for the first time, while Philip van der Walt, Piet van Zyl and Rayno Benjamin all return to the squad.

15. Hennie Daniller, 14. Riaan Smit, 13. Johann Sadie, 12. Robert Ebersohn, 11. Raymond Rhule, 10. Elgar Watts, 9. Sarel Pretorius, 8. Davon Raubenheimer, 7. Lappies Labuschagné, 6. Boom Prinsloo (captain), 5. Waltie Vermeulen, 4. Lood de Jager, 3. Rossouw de Klerk, 2 Hercu Liebenberg 1. Trevor Nyakane.
Replacements – 16. AJ le Roux, 17. Schalk van der Merwe, 18. Oupa Mohoje, 19. Philip van der Walt, 20. Piet van Zyl, 21. Rayno Benjamin, 22. Willie du Plessis.

  • Roberto, you have just given de Jager the snip and changed his religion in one key stroke. 😆

  • @Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 5) : so long as they don’t demand evidence that he isn’t able to produce…

Could be a very brisk dismissal from the squad.
