Well, there may not be a lot of (or any) news regarding the Sharks at the moment, but at least the ongoing backroom shuffles at the Kings are providing us with a little fodder to keep the site ticking over!

The latest development, revealed yesterday, is that veteran fullback-cum-centre Tiger Mangweni is set to move into a coaching role and has been appointed defence coach for the EP Kings Vodacom Cup side with immediate effect. The 34-year-old has apparently spent a little time with Brendan Venter to learn the basic ropes, but will need to adapt fast as he begins the role in earnest.

Cheetahs defence coach Michael Horak joins the Kings at the end of this year’s Varisty Cup, leaving it a little unclear as to exactly what Mangweni’s role will be once he does.

  • Mangweni is 34 years old…I’m getting OLD!
