We confirmed back in November that Sharks Currie Cup loose forward Brynard Stander has left to join the Western Force and will play for the Perth franchise in this year’s Super Rugby competition.
The Force have now unveiled Stander to the media and you can see what he has to say about his move in the video below, courtesy of the Western Force’s YouTube channel.

Interesting to hear that he considers himself more of a ball carrier than a fetcher
Yeah, hey Rob, what’s with all the old news coming through now? Did we just enter a time warp and we are back to the future? or are the other journalists just waking up now?
Wait I get it… they just didn’t believe all the articles on SW!!!
@R Hayward (Comment 2) : I guess not. They will learn in time
It’s awesome hearing people discussed all the so called breaking news and your reaction is, that’s old news.
@KingRiaan (Comment 4) : @robdylan (Comment 3) : @R Hayward (Comment 2) : ja ja, sorry gents, been on holiday and forgot all last years news…
@MJ (Comment 5) : Relax man! Wasn’t referring to you at all!!!
Anyway welcome back!
no worries mate
pity on him, he had great potential
@Dunx (Comment 8) : well, he’s not dead or anything. Just gone to play in Aus for 2 years to get some exposure.
Westville Boy, family have strong Durban links…
Rob these ball carrying loosies are a dime a dozen in SA. I mean Braam Steyn, Bryn Stander and Meyer Swanepoel have all sought greener pastures
@slammerboy (Comment 10) : Braam Steyn? Why does that name sound familiar?
@slammerboy (Comment 10) : ag fok – of course. The big flank-cum-lock who played Baby Boks?
@Dunx (Comment 8) : Well… he is 23 already. If he’s nowhere close to cracking a starting spot at 23, then probably not the next big thing. Just saying…
Sad to lose him. But maybe he’ll come back to the Sharks in two years’ time. I thought he was gonna try and get Aus passport and then play for Aus National team one day.
@[email protected] (Comment 14) : maybe he is…. and if so, I wish him all the best
@robdylan (Comment 15) : always sad to see a young Durban boytjie leave but you can’t keep them all!!!! I say: Good luck to him and hope he makes it big over there!!!!
Sad to see him go, he looked really useful last year.
Loved his comment that it was better to play for your brother than for a stranger
@robdylan (Comment 12) : Etienne Oosthuizen
@Saffex (Comment 18) : When did we sign oosthuizen? i knew that he was coming after he left aussie to follow JW but haven’t seen anything about us actually signing him.
@Dunx (Comment 19) : that was confirmed in November
@robdylan (Comment 20) : thanks i must have missed that one. Expected though
@Dunx (Comment 21) : I guess that’s why it wasn’t really big news when it did happen – everyone knew it was coming.
@robdylan (Comment 9) : Maybe Force can teach him to be more of a fetcherthen after two years Sharks can get him back as the Sharks needs a good openside!!!!!!!
