According to various overnight new sources (with Volksblad probably being the first), Kenya look set to feature in this year’s Vodacom Cup competition.

It was reported late last year that the Pampas XV, Argentina’s representative in the competition, will not be returning in 2014, citing cost concerns. Kenya, who hope to qualify for the 2015 Rugby World Cup as one of Africa’s representative now look set to take their place, using the competition as ideal preparation for their upcoming qualification games.

None of this has yet been confirmed by anyone at SARU, so treat it as an unconfirmed rumour for now. According to the reports, though, Kenay will play out of Cape Town and compete in the same South Section that contains the Sharks XV.

  • Very good move! Will breathe some new life into the Vodacom Cup and also help grow rugby in Africa.

  • @StevieS (Comment 1) : I agree with you. Much rather have these guys than the Limpopo whipping boys
