This isn’t really big, or surprising news, but probably worth a mention. Jean de Villiers has been confirmed as Stormers captain for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
Coach Allister Coetzee made the announcement today, adding that Schalk Burger will operate as vice captain and presumably lead the team when de Villiers is rested (yeah, right!).
Coetzee told www.iamastormer.com: “Jean and Schalk are both top-class rugby players and leaders, who also happen to be very close friends – dating back to their school days. But, most importantly, Jean and Schalk understand the Stormers culture well. That’s important for us, as coaches; they believe in our philosophy and what we’re trying to achieve with this squad.”

Yawn!!!
Do hope they “rest” him though……would like to see a bit more of de allende at 12 in s15
@KingsArmy (Comment 2) : We will all hope, for Boks sakes! but….they wont. 😕 De Allende seems to be a good player, but for some bizarre reason i can’t stand him. 😉
Seem we flooding the market concerning centers…..not a bad place for SA to be in.
@Southern_Shark (Comment 3) : Might have something to do with a certain CC Final back in 2012 . . . 👿
Seems as if Stormers have lost Kolbe for 8 weeks due to injury.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 6) : oeps! Couple of people will have to make some changes to their fantasy team…..
@KingsArmy (Comment 7) : Dunno hey… unlikely to be a world beater at Super Rugby level
@robdylan (Comment 8) : agree, but bet u some strms fans disagree…..haha
