It’s the 14th of February and that means it’s time to go all out to make the special person in your life as happy as they make you!

Perhaps more importantly, Super Rugby starts tomorrow. Valentines Day, in other words, couldn’t come at a better time for rugby fans. It’s close enough to the start of the season that any good deeds done today will hopefully live on in the memory of that significant other, buying enough goodwill to last for the first two or three weeks of the competition at least.

Sharks fans are doubly lucky, because the round 3 bye offers an unusual opportunity to top up on “brownie points” just in case they’ve already worn off by then.

So Happy Valentines Day to one and all… go out and spoil the one you love today and have an awesome time. Just be sure to be done by 7:10pm tomorrow…

  • @Poisy (Comment 2) : Not your first time at the rodeo I see. Question is will that buy you enough brownie points to reach the round 3 bye?

I started this season on a negative brownie balance as I got out of a family thing to go watch the warm-up game at Ellis Park. I reckon I’ve earned enough in the meantime to cover that game as well as this coming Saturday’s game. I’ll definitely need to ‘top-up’ though and soon. Suggestions are welcome. 😀

  • @vanmartin (Comment 4) : how did you get out of the negative numbers? one thing you can try is get big white balloons get red permanent markers inflate 3 and write “i love you” one word on each balloon, then get some rope and some bricks tie each balloon to the brick and throw it in the shallow end of the pool(or they will pop if you do it in the deep end) then get some flowers stand on the other side of the pool and call her to come to the pool. +100 brownie points

  • @Poisy (Comment 5) : I bought her (living) flowers yesterday morning on my way to work and waited until she left for a dentist appointment. I then drove back home and placed the flowers in the house.

    Points breakdown:
Multiple plants instead of one: 50 points (this also unlocked a 3x multiplier on all plant related points)
Living flowers (as opposed to dead ones): 3 x 40 points
    Pretty green pots: 3 x 25 points
    Indigenous flowers: 3 x 40 points
Surprising her a day before Valentines day: 120 points
Sneaking into the house while she’s out (which demonstrates premeditation): 200 points

As is clear from the above, a huge points haul which cleared the negative balance and provided enough to cover the weekend. Only problem is it raises the bar for next year.

You pool suggestion is a really good one but for a single problem: I don’t own a pool.
