Another EP Kings player is expected to feature in the Stormers 2014 Super Rugby squad, as EP Rugby CEO, Charl Crous confirmed that Siviwe Soyizwapi will join the Stormers.
Soyizwapi, better known as Shakes to his team mates, left for Cape Town on Sunday and will provide cover at wing and fullback, for the injured Jaco Taute and Cheslin Kolbe.
Shakes made his Super Rugby debut against the Brumbies last year when he replaced Hadleigh Parks. He made a total of six appearances for the Southern Kings, three in the starting line-up and three as a substitute.
Crous said he had received the request to loan Soyizwapi to the Stormers for their Super Rugby season, following the youngster’s sterling performance against the Cape Town based Super Rugby side during their warm up match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on the 7th of February.
“We wish Shakes everything of the best and know that he will be a great asset to the Stormers,” he said.
Shakes will be joining fellow EP Kings player Scott van Breda, that has been training with the Stormers squad since the start of the 2014 pre-season.

I read somewhere that Taute’s might never play rugby again…..
@Pokkel (Comment 1) : hectic,
@Pokkel (Comment 1) : That would be a pity
@Pokkel (Comment 1) : Nah man, i dont think thats the case
Yet another sub-80kg behemoth for the Stormers back three…. as a Sharks fan, I applaud Allistair for this bold move
@Culling Song (Comment 5) : LOL!!
@Culling Song (Comment 5) : 😆
Stormers fans arent really happy unless there are at least 2 guys on the field that can imitate aggitated pinballs.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 4) : Rumour from rugby365 it seems. Although Alister is known to play down injuries…just look at Burger….his knee was always 2 weeks away from being ready.
@Pokkel (Comment 8) : Ja, Alister apparently believes in the power of positive thinking…even when it means blatantly lying to the public. 🙄
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 7) :
Welcome Shakes. May you live long and prosper at the home of South African rugby…
Matt Stevens from Saracens joining us for Superugby? Can anyone confirm?
@Quintin (Comment 12) :
Confirmed.
@VinChainSaw (Comment 13) : Do you know how his form has been lately?
@Quintin (Comment 14) :
So, so.
He’s great when he’s in shape, but generally struggles with his weight. They used to have him wear a machine that analysed his energy usage, because nobody could understand why he was always over-weight.
He plays a somewhat high-risk role for a prop – when it comes off it looks good, but when it doesnt its a disaster.
He seems a helluva great guy, but im not really a fan of his work. I prefer my props in the ruck, not the backline.
@VinChainSaw (Comment 15) : You must hate ‘Brock the Rock’ then!
@Pokkel (Comment 16) :
Not a massive fan, no.
@Pokkel (Comment 8) : Eish
