  • Poor structure on attack is costing us.

Reinach making some poor kicking decisions and Pat not creating anything off the front foot ball.

Not bad play – but definite room for improvement.

  • @vanmartin (Comment 62) : We should be further ahead. The truth is, although we have looked pretty dangerous in broken play, I cant help feeling the looser the game becomes, the more we are playing into their hands. Sharks need to tighten up. The forwards are dominant, so grind it for a while.

  • Why does the player first to the ruck not play scrummie if Reinach isn’t there? Just about every other team does it, but we seem to just do the training regime unless the ref says use it. No wonder we can’t create phase momentum.

  • The highlights have just summed up the first half. Lots of Sharks opportunities, not so many points. Canes have had 2 chances and one of those only a half chance and they have 6 points for their efforts. This could go pear shaped pretty quickly unless the Sharks start capitalising.

We matched them in open play too, which is no small feat baring in mind their back 3. We just need to sharpen up on the execution and we have the forwards and backs to match any team.

  • Woohoo! Well done Sharks!

@Pablo Dinero (Comment 191) : I didn’t mind the decisions either. We denied the Canes of a bonus point. Realistically we weren’t going to get 2 tries in 5 minutes against what was a surprisingly strong defense. But those penalties ensured they could not score a breakaway try to get within 7. Also gave Lambie a bit more confidence in his goal kicking which was superb tonight.
