Cape Town’s first match of the season sees the Stormers and Hurricanes both seeking redemption after picking up no log points in their respective openers.
A large and vocal crowd will pack the stadium, as always; it remains to be seen, though, which of the teams on show will enjoy the most support.
Kick-off is at 19h10.

0 from 2 for me so far . . . Lets see if I can break my duck! π
@Original Pierre (Comment 1) : I doubt it π
Stormers couldn’t buy a try if they got a blank cheque non-repayable loan from Bill Gates himself. π―
Hurricanes 7 Stormers 6 (35min)
Beautiful cross kick and Cory Jane scores. Sustained pressure and inevitable score by the Hurricanes.
Hurricanes 12 Stormers 6 (HT)
The Stormers have butchered at least 3 scoring chances. I don’t know if they’ve taken a knock in confidence after last week, but their decision-making is terrible.
Come on Stormers. I need the SB point
Stormers penalty.
Hurricanes 12 Stormers 9 (51min)
Barritt penalty.
Hurricanes 15 Stormers 9 (60min)
Stormers penalty.
Hurricanes 15 Stormers 12 (63min)
Barritt penalty.
Hurricanes 18 Stormers 12 (67min)
I see a pattern emerging…
Stormers get a penalty right in front. Decide to go for the lineout drive. They lose the ball.
Stormers and Cheetahs are looking poor, think they need to start looking at the coaches
At least the Stormers scrum has improved throughout the game.
Stormers get a scrum penalty and go for the corner again.
Try!!!
Deon Fourie scores from the drive.
The Greek converts!
Hurricanes 18 Stormers 19 (76min)
Stormers win!
Hurricanes 18 Stormers 19 (FT)
So wpru prolongs their false sense of achievement.
@FireTheLooser (Comment 19) : They really drive that home on Supersport. Since when has Newlands been the “Home of Rugby”?
bliksem, that was close.
@MerckZ (Comment 20) : yeah also heard that one…it was very puzzling
@robdylan (Comment 21) : I think the Canes were still hungover from their midweek M&M concert.
Without Etzebeth, these guys are hopeless. Their forward pack was decimated at times against a pack our forwards put to the sword.
How many winning bonus points will these guys get with Screuder/Cat and predictable driving mauls? Going to be a looong season.
Where was Kolisi? No where. Dont tell me his light 5, who all of SuperSport insist are world beaters, is the reason this oke vanished…Vermulen, Rhodes and the garden gnome made telling contributions. Vermulen and De Allende were massive, but there is no escaping how limited they are either.
Sjoe these guys were disappointing.
I’m afraid, as much as I like AC, he may have some serious limitations. How much did he rely on guys like Fourie/Habbana to carry that back line?
De Allende had a good outing. He’ s a much better centre than wing.
So HM rate Schreuder and not McLoed? ?? Taute and D Allende and Applon good on the night but little gameplan execution by the forwards nearly cost them
