As if conceding a bonus-point win to the unfancied Melbourne Rebels in their first tour game wasn’t bad enough, the Cheetahs have two injury concerns ahead of their next challenge, a clash with the Reds in Brisbane this weekend.
Star flanker Pieter Labuschagne picked up a heel injury during the second half, while winger Raymond Rhule hurt his ankle during the defeat. Both players will need to prove their fitness this week, but are rated by coach Naka Drotske as 50-50 at best for Friday’s match.
Jean Cook and Rayno Benjamin are the men most likely to come into the selection frame should the duo fail to recover in time, although Drotske could also opt to move Willie le Roux to wing and rather bring in Hennie Daniller at fullback.
The Cheetahs have won just one of their three opening matches and are thus far looking a pale shadow of the side that won three tour matches last year en route to a first-ever knockout series appearance.

Most disappointing of the weekend 😐
@Southern_Shark (Comment 1) : yep – also the only result I got wrong
@robdylan (Comment 2) : Good on you Rob, I had a weekend to forget on Superbru.
My missus also asked me why I wasn’t watching any rugby……..have to be hands down the most boring weekend of SR I’ve ever seen
