Things are going from bad to worse for the Cheetahs; yesterday we reported that Lappies Labuschagne and Raymond Rhule looked doubtful for their Friday clash against the Reds in Brisbane, but this morning we hear that two other – rather important – players are under an injury cloud as well.
According to Rugby365, star tighthead Coenie Oosthuizen is apparently battling with another neck problem and will go for a scan today to assess the damage. Oosthuizen’s neck has given him problems in the past and Naka Drotske and his coaching team will have fingers thoroughly crossed that the big prop hasn’t suffered a recurrence of the problem that curtailed his 2012 season.
The other player apparently struggling is flyhalf Johan Goosen, who has some knee pain. Goosen has spent a large part of the last two seasons on the sidelines for one reason or another and it’s hoped that this latest problem isn’t related to the serious knee injury he suffered last year.

Coenie must have whiplash from the headbutts
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 1) : LOL 🙂
Megatron mentioned it a while back and it seems to still hold true – given enough playing time at tighthead, Coenie always ends up with a neck injury. Is it a case of improper technique or simply bad luck?
@vanmartin (Comment 3) : I think the problem is Naka and Os, too focussed on scrumming technique, how many penalties are they giving away at scrum time?
Is Goosen injured…no surely not! hahaha Im sorry i know its mean but its so clear that kid hasnt had enough time to rehab, gain strength and condition his body to senior rugby. All the talent in the world will do nothing for you if you cant get out the medical room. Coenie has horrid scrumming technique and purely relies on his size and strength. He is carrying too much weight
Looks like the Cheetahs nightmare tour is on track.with Is and Naka both scrum experts and you’re right about incorrect technique then that explains a lot about the teams woeful performance in all other areas.
