The Sharks have confirmed that Patrick Lambie felt well enough to participate in training today.

The Bok pivot was withdrawn from Saturday’s team to play the Lions at the eleventh hour, having come down with an illness. Initial signs, though, are encouraging that he’ll be fit to wear the number 10 jersey against the Reds on Saturday.

The Sharks also confirmed that JP Pietersen is back with the team and eligible for selection.

  • Was the mysterious illness confirmed as tick bite fever? Doubt it could be if he’s back so soon.

  • @vanmartin (Comment 1) : I still have memories of my bout of tick bite fever as a kid. That headache was excruciating.

  • Wish Paul a speedy recovery. He has just settled and showed us true potential. Very happy Pat is training. We need consistency in the next four weeks to be strong in the later part and tour. I would seriously consider Frans as the primary kicker for the team if I was the coach. It will take some stress of Pat and focus him on other aspects of his game. Are all the forwards fit to play? We certainly need them. Any news on the VC game broadcast ?

  • My probable Sharks team I think JW will select for the weekend, 1 Beast, 2 Bismark, 3 Jannie, 4 Bresler, 5 PSDT 6 Marcell, 7 Albert, 8 Kanko, 9 Cobus, 10 Lambie, 11 Mvovo, 12 Steyn, 13 JPP, 14 Sithole, 15 Marais – 16 Cooper, 17 Adriaanse, 18 Chadwick, 19 Lewies, 20 Deysel, 21 Mcleod, 22 Esterhuizen, 23 here I believe JW is going to go for another forward and not a Back, and I think Botes or Daniel

  • According to Volksblad, Bresler is going to Scotland. Also Keegan and Deysel is going to Japan after S15 just for the CC.

  • @sharks_lover (Comment 13) : I would prefer to see Sithole at outside centre to see what White was looking at. Speaking of which i only saw the game on tv did anyone notice who played wing when Ndugane went off, was it jordaan or sithole?

  • @Dunx (Comment 16) : Sbura played wing. I’d prefer him at 13 as well. Jake obviously rates him highly at 13, and he’s never been a 1st choice wing. JPP is a great 13 but he is one of the best wings in the world.

  • @Johnnydp (Comment 15) : why is it that locks are forever leaving the sharks? Muller, Mosterdt. Skeate, Bresler, Kruger etc etc

  • @West Indies Cricket Board (Comment 18) : probably since Jake brought his boy with him too. Lots of good youngsters banging at the door. Wont forget his and beasts daredevil acts though!
@gregkaos (Comment 17) : I agree even tho JP makes a good 13 he is by far a better winger

  • Locks add – Sykes, Peet Marais, etc..earlier speculation Hewitt off to France. PSDT at the boks , one or two injuries and we are in lock shit again in CC. South African locks are in great demand in Europe! I would not blame a talented youngster like Peet also leaving if Jake’s boy Ettienne is preferred above him.
