No I’m not talking about giving the ball some air but can the DHL Stormers swing a unlikely result against the Chiefs on Friday.
The Stormers were given absolutely no chance of winning in Christchurch last week but if not for a touch of bad luck (Jean de Villiers had a try disallowed by the TMO) they would have changed the history books slightly by notching up their first win in the Crusaders back yard.
The DHL Stormers had reverted to type and employed their “offensive defence” game plan and the pay off was clearly visible, their line out wobbles looked to be solved with DeKock Steenkamp running the show , even winning a few steals on the much fancied home team throw in.
Their has been a shuffle to the Stormers pack (Ā http://www.sharksworld.co.za/2014/03/11/tight-five-changes-for-stormers/ ) but Tiaan Liebenberg and Brok Harris are extremely familiar with the system and should slot in seamlessly, if the system holds as it did last week and with Schalk Burger performing like he did last week the Cape side may have just enough belief to pull of what would be viewed as a shock result in Hamilton.
The DHL Stormers face the Chiefs at 8:35 am in Hamilton on Friday morning
DHL Stormers :15.Jaco Taute, 14. Kobus van Wyk, 13. Jean de Villiers (captain), 12.Damian de Allende, 11.Gio Aplon, 10.Demetri Catrakilis, 9.Nic Groom, 8.Duane Vermeulen, 7.Schalk Burger, 6.Deon Fourie, 5.De Kock Steenkamp, 4.Ruan Botha, 3.Brok Harris, 2.Tiaan Liebenberg, 1.Steven Kitshoff.

Is game being played on Thursday? šÆ
No they can’t. š„
Jeez! Thanks bud
I doubt it. As was stated in a previous article which I agree with, the Crusaders are hardly the benchmark at the moment and the Stormers still weren’t able to beat them.
Wot!? Against the Chiefs (the top NZ team) in their own backyard?? I suspect your tongue is firmly planted in your cheek, Claytie.
played 4 won 1 š³
Without hope all is lost š
Claytie we can look back on that game and wonder many things: had JDV got that try, if only Taute hadn’t been an idiot, if only Michael Rhodes didn’t have brainfarts. But the point is, is that all of that did happen because the team aren’t playing well. IMHO, your most valuable players are not Schalk and JDV. You guys are badly missing Juan De Jong for his playmaking ability, and Etzebeth for his lineout and driving skills. Now if you had those 2 in the mix, it would change things considerably. Oh, and please can Coetzee start with Peter Grant. At least he can attack the advantage line.
Yes they can! But I don’t think they will. š
Dont you need to add 7 to Brok’s jersey number?
@Big Fish (Comment 9) : he is about their 37th best prop….
We need to get shot of Rhodes. He’s worse than Bakkies in his heyday.
@robdylan (Comment 10) : wrong Rob he’s the Chuck Norris of the netball players ,the best in any position
@VinChainSaw (Comment 11) : With less talent.
@robdylan (Comment 10) :
3+7=10
Never mind; we all have our off-days. š
@Seth101 (Comment 13) :
True that Seth!
