Good news for Jordaan

I’m really not one of those people who enjoys turning a tweet into an article, but this one contains good enough news that I’m going to do exactly that.

Against the backdrop of gathering gloom caused by injuries, we have some good news to share, courtesy of Paul Jordaan. The Sharks centre revealed, via Twitter, that his recovery fro a minor knee procedure is progressing well and that he’s expecting to be fit for selection in two weeks, for the Sharks’ return game against the Lions.

Jordaan missed out on the fixtures against the Reds and Bulls, but with a bye week coming up, Saturday’s clash against the Waratahs could hopefully be the last game for which he is not available.

Good work Paul and the Sharks medical staff.

  • It’s great news that he is recovering well, but to be honest I think that it Sbu carries on playing as well as he has been Paul might find it a little difficult to get back into the starting line up.

  • @Butchie34 (Comment 1) : Good to have options, especially if Steyn is to spend some time at fly half.

  • @Seth101 (Comment 2) : It’s fantastic to have options, but I think both of them are wings/outside centres rather than a 12 which is where we’d have to fill a gap in Steyn moves in.

I think we would be well covered at inside centre though if Steyn does move inside with Heimar and Andre Esterhuizen who can play there. Andre had a horrible first touch but making your Super Rugby debut at Loftus can be rather tough I think.

  • Awesome news! BTW, can anyone confirm what has happened to Tyler Fisher? After his inclusion in the squad in the pre-season and after not having disgraced himslef at FB and after impressing Jake if reports are to be believed, I figured he would at least have been a cert in the VC side and have been an outside bet as a fringe SR player. Not sure of I missed something but I haven’t noticed his name on any team sheets for VC either?

  • Thanks Rob. Needed that bit of good news.

I’ve been impressed with Sithole and hope he still gets some gametime, but it’s good to know we will have our regular center combo back in a couple of weeks.

  • That’s great. We need a little bit of good news about the Sharks now. Everything else is just doom and gloom if you read the other press.

  • Great news. We’ll start with Steyn and call Fred from the bench with Esterhuizen and Sithole first and followed up by Frans and Sithole for the last 20. We must have a better rotation policy though.

  • Tyler Fisher has had a shoulder operation to his right shoulder and will be available only in 8 weeks time hopefully. It was unfortunate but that is the nature of the sport and it seems shoulders is quite a common injury amongst backline players in rugby.
