Big Lood de Jager, who broke a finger in Durban last weekend, has been ruled out of action ahead of the Toyota Cheetahs’ home Super Rugby clash against the DHL Stormers this weekend.

Compounding coach Naka Drotske’s misery is a further delay to the return of both Coenie Oosthuizen (prop, neck) and Johan Goosen (flyhalf, concussion) with neither considered for the Bloemfontein clash. Adding de Jager and Lappies Labuschagne to the picture, that’s far too many key men missing for there to be much hope of a Cheetahs turnaround this weekend.

Andries Ferreira starts for de Jager in the number 4 jersey, with Waltie Vermeuelen making his way onto the bench as cover. Boom Prinsloo and Jean Cook swap jerseys in the loose trio, but the only other personnel change amongst the forwards comes on the bench, where Torsten van Jaarsveld take over from Ryno Barnes as reserve hooker.

A backline change sees Raymond Rhule come into the starting side at right wing, displacing Cornal Hendricks to the bench.

Toyota Cheetahs: 15 Hennie Daniller, 14 Raymond Rhule, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Rayno Benjamin, 11 Willie le Roux, 10 Elgar Watts, 9 Sarel Pretorius, 8 Boom Prinsloo, 7 Jean Cook, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Francois Uys, 4 Andries Ferreira, 3 Maks van Dyk, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Caylib Oosthuizen
Substitutes: 16 Torsten van Jaarsveld, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Rossouw de Klerk, 19 Waltie Vermeulen, 20 Teboho Mohoje, 21 Shaun Venter, 22 Riaan Smit, 23 Cornal Hendricks
