Sharks under 21 coach Deon Kayser has named a strong line-up to contest his side’s season opener against the Leoaprds tomorrow afternoon at Growthpoint Kings Park.#
Scrumhalf Stefan Ungerer, a veteran of the game at this level who now also has a few Super Rugby caps to his name, leads a side that features additional Super Rugby experience in the form of Tim Swiel and Junior Bok Andre Esterhuizen. Swiel, who has started a few games at flyhalf for the senior Sharks this year, will play at fullback as another Junior Bok, Jean-Luc du Plessis, has been entrsuted with the number 10 jersey.
Tyler Fisher, whom Jake White included as a fullback option in his 49-man Super Rugby squad, will operate in his more familiar outside centre position and renew a partnership formed with Esterhuizen at this level in 2013. Alcino Izaavs and Alrin Eksteen are the wingers.
Up front, the Sharks boast less experience. Jean Pretorius and Ray Williams played at under 19 level last year, but the likes of Sias Koen (flank) and Ferdie Horn (lock) are new to the province this year. Front rankers Jacques Taylor and Matt Jones have played at this level before, as has the other lock, “Danger” Dave Fisher.

interesting that we have two boys in our starting pack that were schooled at Glenwood – then left to go to the Blue scum – then came back.
Sick back line.
@uShaka (Comment 2) : nice, hey? Just hope that pack can find them some ball
@robdylan (Comment 3) : good side, props a bit foreign to me, are the u19s playing?
Jeez that’s a strong backline at U21 level.
Thinking im going to have to make it down for this one.
Any idea what time it start? Usually around 4.30ish I think.
Pity about Gideon Keogelenberg, I hear he’s injured again. Got to feel for the boy, think he played more games for the Sharks while he was still at school than he has since leaving school. Such a pity because he’s a very good player!!!
@John Galt (Comment 5) :
U19s at 1pm
U21s at 3pm
Where’s the third Marais brother?
@Ludz (Comment 6) : Yeah the Baby Boks could have done with him, any news on when he is due back?
I don’t recognise the wingers, can anyone provide some info on them?
@ChrisS (Comment 8) : playing wing for the u19s
@robdylan (Comment 11) : Just seen your other article. Thanks Rob
@robdylan (Comment 1) : You misspelt scrum.
Ive seen Isaacs play, speedy with legs that look like they are one tackle away from breaking.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 13) :
😆
Would have loved to go. To bad it’s tomorrow.
Any chance that Super Sport will broadcast it?
@robdylan (Comment 1) : Which two players came back from the “Blue scum”?
@Blue Centurion (Comment 17) : Jacques Taylor and Ferdie Horn
@robdylan (Comment 18) : Ah, thanks. Wonder what was wrong with them? 😈
@Blue Centurion (Comment 19) : ) : 😆
Huge pity about Koegies hope he is playing again soon as the Sharks 0/21 will need him.
