Man. Where do they get these refs from?
Pumas 28 – 21 Cheetahs

@Ben (Comment 6) : just curious why you said that they are having quite a good game according to me
@BR (Comment 8) : The JW Jonker try makes no sense to me.
@Ben (Comment 9) : as long as the ball doesn’t cross the plane of touch a player that is out may tap it back or kick it
Full Time
Pumas 28 – 21 Cheetahs
Law 19 Definitions
A player in touch may kick or knock the ball, but not hold it, provided it has not
crossed the plane of the touchline. The plane of the touchline is the vertical space
rising immediately above the touchline.
Stransky got it wrong.
@BR (Comment 10) : His knee was on the ground and touching the line and then he touched the ball. Makes no sense.
@fyndraai (Comment 12) : That law makes no sense.
@Ben (Comment 9) : it is the same reason for way you can score a try whilst being touch in goal , tapping or kicking the ball is not seen as playing the ball
@Ben (Comment 13) : yes but the ball was never over the plane of touch
@BR (Comment 15) : Not seen as but in the end of the day it is playing the ball. Is that a new law or old one?
@BR (Comment 16) : I get that and I was wrong for blaming the ref. What I’m saying is the law doesn’t make sense.
@Ben (Comment 14) : technically he is not playing the ball , playing the ball meaning holding it
@BR (Comment 19) : Let’s not get technical. π
@Ben (Comment 17) : it is a old law that was focused on a lot in recent time
@Ben (Comment 20) : ok then , this game of rugby looks so simple but is probably the most complicated sport there is
Oh my dear firebrand friend Cheetahs Glory. The universe certainly does breve a twisted sense of humour, now doesn’t it? π π
@BR (Comment 21) : I bet a lot of refs got that one wrong in the past then. Kudos to this ref on the contrary for getting it right.
@BR (Comment 22) : And every ref interpreting the laws in a different way makes it even more complicated.
@Ben (Comment 24) : yip lots got it wrong that is exactly why put more focus on it , even test match refs got it wrong.
@Ben (Comment 25) : no there is no room for interpretation in this one
@Ben (Comment 24) : it is actually one of the first trick questions they ask you if you want to become a ref these days
@BR (Comment 26) : Learn something new every day.
@BR (Comment 28) : So Joel Stransky and myself wouldn’t make it as a ref. Neither would Owen Nkumane.
@Ben (Comment 30) : no the teach it to you
@Ben (Comment 30) : I savoured the moment when the commentators relised they actually don’t know the laws as well as they think they do, but the best was when nick and Naas who where coaches admitted they didn’t know it
@Ben (Comment 30) : Ek het tot in my tone lekker gekry , want ons kry amper Elke week opmerkings soos but Joel,nick,naas,oom kobus, breitie ect. Said this or that
@BR (Comment 32) : That is shocking.
@BR (Comment 33) : It’s a nice life working for SuperSport. Almost the same as being a weather forecaster. You almost never get it right but in the end of the day you keep your job.
@Ben (Comment 35) : a weather forecaster you can forgive because weather is actually unpredictable
@BR (Comment 36) : True that! π
And some other news tuks is once more the Carlton champions
@BR (Comment 38) : oh sorry ,it is the first time in 5 years but well done to tuks in anyway
I like a law that allows the play to continue.
It is much better than the other side of the law that rewards players for making a ball “in-touch”
@fyndraai (Comment 40) : ja it does seem silly, don’t like that law at all.
Nothing form kingcheetah… typical. LOL
@SharksRTB (Comment 42) : ja but to be honest would we be on here if the Sharks lost today?!?!?!?!?!
@fyndraai (Comment 40) : Agreed
@JD (Comment 43) : You know we would π
First of all…good pick, Rob!
Secondly…I really think that law that everyone was on about is pretty daft. I knew about it but never understood it. How can kicking or tapping the ball in any way NOT be construed as playing the ball?!?! Rules like this make for confusion…and in my mind that means it is counter productive. Make it simple all around. If ball or player touching ball touch the line or go over it, it is out…that would be they way I’d go. But then I’m not one of the lawmakers…
@JD (Comment 43) : yes
@vanmartin (Comment 44) : @SharksRTB (Comment 47) : ja ok I know we would but somehow I feel a little bit sorry for the Cheetahs supporters as once again their top management team screwed the team and supporters.
@pastorshark (Comment 46) : with you 100% on that one!!!! Silly rule that makes no sense!!!!!!
@JD (Comment 48) : Added to that, KingCheetah is actually a pretty okay bloke aside from his constant stirring π
@vanmartin (Comment 50) : ja also think he’s not to bad. Think the Cheetahs can do with a Sharks style make over as I don’t think their current management is really doing a good job.
@JD (Comment 51) : is Naka totally out of the picture? Or just for the CC?
@SharksRTB (Comment 52) : they said it’s just for Currie cup but I hope for the Cheetahs that it will be for good. Don’t rate him as a coach at all.
