Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has made two changes to the starting team that went down against the Lions in humiliating fashion against the Lions last weekend. The Bulls will travel to Newlands to take on Western Province in another tough away encounter.
Jacques du Plesses returns from injury and has been drafted straight back into the starting team in place of Jacques Engelbrecht, who moves to the bench with Wiaan Liebenberg droppping out of the match 22 completely. Jono Ross will take Engelbrecht’s place at the back of the scrum with Du Plessis moving into his place at flank.
Blue Bulls captain Deon Stegmann rightly pointed out that the Bulls will get a great lineout option back with the return of Du Plessis, not to mentioned the speed and size he brings to the team with his ball-carrying.
In one further change, Dean Greyling suffered a calf strain and has been replaced by Marcel van der Merwe, with Hencus van Wyk taking his place on the bench.
Frans Ludeke spoke about the challenges they faced in the opening weeks of the campaign, but said that they were up for the challenge and will only look forward to this weeks game, “We’ve buried last week’s performance and now focus on what we can deliver against a very competent Western Province side.” said Ludeke “We know only too well that this is a massive opportunity for us to show our character and drive for success.”
