the try by Tondie was really sublime, and the win was not undeserved, but the Cheetahs tried hard.

  • Didn’t watch either this or the Bok game live and now glad I didn’t. All I can say is that the basic skills of our sides were shocking. It seems to be a typical SA player problem.

Our guys have no fucking idea what space is all about. They don’t know why or when to kick the ball. They can’t pass. They have no respect for possession.

That prop of the Cheetahs could simply have passed and they would have won the game. Instead he did the dumb plank Saffa thing and lost the match for his team.

I’m seriously gatvol of our rugby. The reason I watch the game is to enjoy it. I don’t enjoy the crap we dish up all year. What I do like is how the AB’s play it.

    I’ve had enough.

So I’ve now decided, reluctantly I might add, to do away with allegiances and to support rugby solely as a sport. As such, I’ll be rooting for whichever team plays the game in the best spirit and with the most skill.

Although they can also have their rare off days, like we saw yesterday with Messam.

  • just watching the game and want to go back to an incident just before half time when the ref penalised Stevens for advancing within 10m.

I can understand why Stevens was so upset. Watching the replay, you can clearly see him retreating, only turning and advancing when he was put onside by Marais, who had kicked the ball. His timing was spot on, he only turned when Marais passed him.

  • Jordaan is a useless distributor. He needs a coach to coach the selfishness out of him. He has so much potential but is blinded by his glory boy ego. SP and Fred have lost the plot. Can’t believe I’m saying this but this team needs Swiel to be on the park….maybe at 15. Play Lionel at 12 so as to get some distribution going….if our backline is our strength then surely we need a solid 9, 10 and12 combo that can create and have hand speed. To the contrary, I liked what I saw from Hoffmann. I just can’t wait for Mitchell to take over. Our game has not evolved at all. I don’t see us keeping up with the Lions and WP on the field.

  • @robdylan (Comment 80) : Rob, I watched that too and agree with your description. Here is the law:

    (a) When a team-mate of an offside player has kicked ahead, the offside player is considered to be taking part in the game if the player is in front of an imaginary line across the field which is 10 metres from the opponent waiting to play the ball, or from where the ball lands or may land. The offside player must immediately move behind the imaginary 10-metre line or the kicker if this is closer than 10 metres. While moving away, the player must not obstruct an opponent or interfere with play.
    Sanction: Penalty kick

    (b) While moving away, the offside player cannot be put onside by any action of the opposing team. However, before the player has moved the full 10 metres, the player can be put onside by any onside team-mate who runs in front of the player.
