Tim Whitehead returns to the Kings starting line-up to face his old team mates as the Kings travel to Durban to face the Sharks on Saturday.

Whitehead, who missed last weeks match against the Cheetahs, due to a calf strain, has been named at outside center for the clash at Kings Park.

Eastern Province Kings head coach, Carlos Spencer made a few more changes to his side that lost to the Cheetahs in Port Elizabeth last week.

Up front, Charl Marais comes in for Lizo Gqoboka and CJ van der Linde replaces Tom Botha at tighthead. Darron Nel takes over the captaincy from injured Steven Sykes, who will be replaced by Steven Cummins. On the flank Stefan Willemse replaces Shaun McDonald.

The only changes amongst the backs sees Tobie Botes replacing Kevin Luiters and Ronnie Cooke replacing Siyanda Grey on the wing.

Charl du Plessis, Cameron Lindsay, Thembelani Bholi and Tim Agaba are all new to the squad and will be playing off the bench, if needed.

  • No disrespect but this is a pretty average team and it wud take a pretty poor effort from the Sharks to lose. Yes anything can happen on the day but if the team the Sharks have on paper plays with any hint of professionalism then they should win comfortably at home. As i said no disrespect to this Kings side but if the Sharks lose this at home, every player should be docked their match fees

  • @robdylan (Comment 2) : Pressure is the name of the game…perhaps incentives like that will get performances worthy of Sharks players

  • @Ludz (Comment 5) : A win for the Kings is about as likely as a win for Zim’s cricket team over Oz 😉 😳

  • Sharks by at least 20. Kings don’t have any flair. They have a couple of solid players but no game breakers or match winners
