Fans, I’m ready to release a new version of the Sharksworld app for Android, so if you’d like to get hold of it and let me know how you like it, that would be really helpful.
I’ll refer you to this post for some background information about the App, including some important things to take note of. Please continue to consider this app a beta release…. I’m pretty happy that it’s stable, but have not done exhaustive testing on it.
The major difference in the most recent release is that it now supports the following additional functionality:
– You can now log in with your Sharksworld username and password. You will need to do this in order to make comments.
– You can now make direct comments on a post (by tapping the “new comment” icon in the menu bar) as long as you’re logged in.
– You can also reply to existing comments, by tapping on the author picture for a comment.
– The App will now send a notification to your phone when there is a new post. This feature will only work on native Android environments if you have Google Play Services installed, so if you’re trying to run it on Blackberry with Android emulation, I wouldn’t expect this to work.
Please download the latest version of the app here.
Have fun, tell your friends and please let me have any (constructive) comments and suggestions.
Iām obviously not going to be held liable for any damage that occurs, for any reason, whatsoever, regardless and similar legal stuff.

Works like a charm!
Best app ever! As a Cape Town Sharks supporter, Sharksworld on the go is perfect. Sometime I get these “sharksworld has stopped working” messages and it closes. I am using the best phone ever…Galaxy S5! Lol
@capesharks (Comment 2) : so I’ve done a fair bit of work on trying to improve the stability. Please let me know if you’re still getting closes without an appropriate warning message.
Nice work. Perfect for the train ride to and from work
Nice app.will Def try it out
@robdylan (Comment 3) : … just in time for my trip to the US! Now I can easily stay updated with the final rounds of CC.
@robdylan (Comment 3) : Works great on a S3
@Spirit of Rugby (Comment 7) : Android 4.3
Can we edit comments?
@Spirit of Rugby (Comment 8) : no, I’m afraid not.
Editing comments on a social platform is ALWAYS contentious. It’s too easy to go back and unsay something once people have already applied.
I’d rather suggest the 5 second rule.
Lekker man!
@West Indies Cricket Board (Comment 10) : What he said!
And of course the loading bar at the top is black and white cause nothing else matters š
Works fine on s4 mini
?
Oh lol it kept saying it failed but on my browser it shows the comments
@robdylan (Comment 9) : Cool. Makes sense.
Hi rob I see its not working for the Windows phone like Nokia and that are you going that route
@sharks4eve2013 (Comment 17) : honestly? Not any time soon.
@robdylan (Comment 18) : Not a problem then as long as the website stays it’s all good ????
@sharks4eve2013 (Comment 19) : the website’s not going anywhere bud

@MJ (Comment 26) : Sponsor me a macbook and we’ll talk.
@robdylan (Comment 28) : haha
@MJ (Comment 26) : @robdylan (Comment 28) : Welcome to the wonderful world of closed ecosystems.
@vanmartin (Comment 30) : We clearly learnt nothing from microsoft
@robdylan (Comment 31) : Rob I can’t get the app going as it always shows a “parse” error. I’m using Samsung S3 mini.
@JD (Comment 32) : can you post your exact Android version please?
@robdylan (Comment 33) : 4.1.2 (hope that’s what you meant).
@JD (Comment 34) : yeah that’s perfect, thanks.
@JD (Comment 34) : you can download a version that should work for you here:

Are you still tweaking the app?
@JarsonX (Comment 37) : Not really. Preparing it for official release now.
@robdylan (Comment 38) : Cool
Beyond excited! Just published my app to the Play store š
@robdylan (Comment 40) : Looks like a trip to the Play store is in order in that case. Congrats Rob!
@vanmartin (Comment 41) : It’s not there yet…. seems it takes a while for it to show up
Rob – is it meant to work on tablets? I get “Unfortunately Sharksworld has stopped” as soon as I try and open a thread.
Lenovo Ideatab S6000-H Android 4.2.2 Kernel 3.4.5
@robdylan (Comment 42) : No prob, it’s not like I don’t have it

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.co.sharksworld.android.v2
@Bokhoring (Comment 43) : strange. Should work.
What version do you have?
@robdylan (Comment 46) : The one from the Sharksworld url.
Not a biggy. Works on my phone.
@robdylan (Comment 46) : 1.95
@Bokhoring (Comment 48) : strange. I tested it on my Nexus 7 tab and it worked pretty well. What size screen does your tab have?
@Bokhoring (Comment 47) : do me a favour please. Uninstall it and then reinstall it from the Google Play URL above.
If it crashes again, you should be able to send me a crash report.
@robdylan (Comment 49) : 10 inch
@robdylan (Comment 50) : Still crashes. Does it send a crash report automatically?
@Bokhoring (Comment 52) : hmmm, I was under the impression it would.
Does it only do it in landscape mode? Or any time you open a post?
@robdylan (Comment 53) : I have tried portrait and landscape. I can see the list of articles either way, but the moment I open one it cans out.
@Bokhoring (Comment 54) : ok, I need to debug this with you.
please send me an email. Rob at sharksworld.co.za
The SW app is finally available through search! Woohoo!
@robdylan (Comment 36) : thanx Rob will try it this weekend.
Thanks Rob. The test version works perfectly on my Lenovo tablet
@Bokhoring (Comment 58) : awesome. That version should be live on Google Play now
