The Sharks have confirmed that flanker Jean Deysel faces a number of weeks on the sidelines due to the ankle injury he sustained at Loftus over the weekend.
Jean has had to have a small procedure to correct the damage and faces between 4-6 weeks out of action.
We wish him all the best for his recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon.

Noooooooooo!!!!!!! 🙁
Terrible news! Hope you get better soon big guy.
Eish, sad news. Get well soon.
Just as Alberts comes back…. Would be so great for once to have all our players fit and available…
Rest well big man hope to see you soon!!!!!
Injured? Again!? Sheesh, this guy is even softer than Eben Etzebeth… 😉
@Culling Song (Comment 6) : NOBODY…..is softer than Eben Etzebeth
@robdylan (Comment 7) : Sorry Rob, completely off topic. When is Claasens joining us?
@Ben (Comment 8) : sorry, but I don’t have a clue
@robdylan (Comment 9) : Okay, cheers mate.
@Culling Song (Comment 6) : I’m not holding that against you as you could have gone with Pierre Spies instead
Ag no man…get well soon. Hope fully no other loosies break down in those 4-6 weeks!
@Ben (Comment 8) : the only thing out there is his wikipedia page which says he signed a contract to join us after top14. That only ends in july or something. hope im wrong.
@West Indies Cricket Board (Comment 13) : Do you know how long he signed for? July is still a long way away.

😥 Peyper eish 👿
Peyper….we just cannot catch a break with refs. Only way it can be worse is if they pair him with the incompetent boob that was t.m.o. at the bulls game last week, or does he tour with the team playing in the nr.0 jersey?
@coolfusion (Comment 17) : I dont think the TMO in the Bulls game was incompetent, not by a long shot. 😉
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 18) : That’s forward thinking mate. 😆
All the best to Jean and hope he has a speedy recovery…would still like to see the following on field 15 play together at some stage:

Been laying off the blog for a while, just reading – I’m trying to stay positive for this season, and it’s early days yet – hoping we can Klap the Stormers. Bad luck for Deysel, trust he recovers fully and comes back angry.
@Richard (Comment 21) : stay positive boet. We’re really close. I can feel it.
@robdylan (Comment 22) : Yep, need to get that backline flowing.
@robdylan (Comment 22) : Will be supporting them to the end! Writing off this past week, start anew. Went into analysis paralysis after the Bulls game, and noted every little judgement, move and individual contribution; then I said for what? The referee is an advocate and even if I won in court and got him penalized and reffing schools rugby, The Sharks still lost. It’s like I went into mourning after that… Not sure why this loss affected me so deeply, maybe that and Wolla’s injury was a tad too much for me to swallow. Only 3 games down and some big guns returning, I reckon we will be in the playoffs.
@robdylan (Comment 22) : I do have a very good feeling about this squad. It’s got a very good mix of experience and youth, I feel. With every position pretty well covered in depth.
It’s all about them believing in themselves. They need to be mentally prepared. They need the correct game-plan and they need to execute – execute – execute.
@Richard (Comment 24) : @robdylan (Comment 22) : Agree re staying positive, this team I think is still trying to shake off part of the JW era, and no doubt soon will click.
Only 1 position still stays a worry for me and that is 13
Lock soughted
Tight Head soughted
FB getting there
13????????? unless JpP plays there or Sbura, till Jordaan returns
@sharks_lover (Comment 16) : Blaming the ref already?
Some stats on Jaco Peyper and sharks/stormers.
Jaco Peyper has reffed 46 SR games. 12 times for the stormers( five at home,seven away), of which they won seven(three at home,four away).
He has called 12 sharks game (10 at home, 2 away). Sharks won nine of those (eight at home and one away).
In matches officiated by him between the two teams (total four, two in cape town, two in durban), the reuslts are two apiece, sharks prevailing in cape town in 2014, and in durban in 2012. stormers won in cape town in 2011, and lost in durban in 2014.
Pretty even, I would say.
@Greg (Comment 28) : Its funny how Sharks fans think Peyper has it in for them while fans of other teams fell that Peyper favours the Sharks. He must be doing something right.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 29) : When everybody hates you, it means you are pretty impartial 😆
@coolfusion (Comment 17) : f#*k me, he actually does! just read that he’ll be the tmo in bloem on saturday!
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 29) : Actually, if you look at ref stats involving different teams, you can see that they are all pretty impartial.
I have kept a database of all results since 1996, including the referee, and do a team comparison before selecting winners in superbru, and it’s quite interesting how even the ref stats are.
Ok ok not incompetent…just very partial which makes him incompetent. But I’m letting go of that now. It’s not like the sharks haven’t always had a problem fighting officials. Well just improve and control what we can and come out on top. That’s the sharks way!
@Greg (Comment 32) : Percentage wise, how do Van Heerdens stats for the Bulls and against the Sharks look. 😈
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 34) : Saturday was his first SR game, so 100% to bulls!
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 34) :
Further to that, though, in currie cup he has reffed the bulls once, which they lost, and the sharks have lost both games that they played while he was blowing.
@Greg (Comment 35) : Thats the one I wanted. Does anybody need any more proof. 😈
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 37) : 😀
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 37) : 😆 😆
