Junior Springbok coach Dawie Theron has made eight changes to his team, four to his starting XV and four to his bench, to face Samoa at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi Stadium in Parma Italy on Saturday.
Grant Hermanus, the only change amongst the backs, will make a run-on debut on the right wing. Changes amongst the forwards include Joseph Dweba at hooker, Jason Jenkins at lock and Dan du Preez joining his twin brother Jean-Luc on the flank.
The four changes on the bench include, Mzamo Majola at prop, Hyron Andrews at lock, Jacques Vermeulen at flank and EW Viljoen at fullback.
“The changes are all part of our process to manage the players effectively during the tournament. There is a short turnaround time between matches and we must make use of our full squad.”
“We expect Samoa to be very physical against us. They were competitive and very physical against Australia and we can expect the same on Saturday. They are also prepared to run the ball from anywhere so we will have to be on our guard with our defense”, added Theron.
The match will be live on SuperSport, kick-off is at 6:30pm.

Obviously talking about the team and not the twins. What I saw against Italy wasn’t exactly awe inspiring from a Samoan perspective.
@Spirit of Rugby (Comment 2) : yeah Boks played most of the rugby, let’s just hope it was the nerves. A bit over eager at stages especially in that 1st halfprob lost out on 3/4 tries.
Bulls lost against the rebels by 1 point. Woo-hoo another weekend without the it irritating fans gloating.
@coolfusion (Comment 4) : If they really wanted to gloat they could always point out to you that they have just lost 4 away games, but come the end of the season they are still going to end higher up on the log than your team.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 5) : Yes and if we think we were robbed by a thieving convict inbred, ref/TMO combination look at the Bulls game.
This one goes past incompetence outright dishonesty.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 5) : Because ending 9 instead of 10 means anything? That just gets you more punishment oh and my team beat the team that beat them. With a brand new coach with players supensions and who knows what else. They were on top of the conference and where are they now. We at least showed an improvement instead of becoming consistently worse.
@The hound (Comment 6) : Nit once but 2 games in a row!
@coolfusion (Comment 7) : are you suggesting there was an improvement in THAT Rebels game last week??? đŸ™„
@Feather (Comment 9) : In general. Last week was a relapse.
South Africa 33 – 3 Samoa
50 minutes.
FULL TIME
SOUTH AFRICA 40 – 8 SAMOA
@Ben (Comment 12) : Did you get to watch? I assume they were better than in the first game…
I see that the Baby Blacks only just won against Argentina via a penalty 2 minutes before the end…
@pastorshark (Comment 13) : I only saw bits and pieces towards the end.
@pastorshark (Comment 14) : 5 minutes before the end. Close game.
