A positive message on the Sharks Facebook page this morning confirms that Pat Lambie has been given the all-clear to return to playing duty after the neck injury sustained against the Crusaders back at Easter.
“After a positive meeting with his doctor this morning, Pat Lambie is looking fit and ready to play! Great to have him down on the pitch today!” say the Sharks, complete with a rather disturbing picture of the young flyhalf sporting his best attempt at a dashing goatee. Let’s just say that young Patrick is far better at rugby football than he is at growing facial hair (not really a big surprise).
Whether Lambie’s availability is likely to mean much to the Sharks remains to be seen. Having not played any rugby in several months, a a Currie Cup stint might do him good; the safer money, though, is on him being immediately called up for Springbok duty, meaning we’ll not see him in match action for the Sharks ahead of next year.
Whatever the case, it’s just great to see him back on his feet. Welcome back Paddy!

great news for SA rugby!
Well that was a long four weeks….
Welcome back Pat!!!!
Welcome back you machine!
To be safe rest him another 2 weeks.
@Seth101 (Comment 2) :
Welcome back Pat!
great news, lets have him properly managed by the boks and sharks now, so we dont push him too much too soon
atleast his well rested
Excellent news! Welcome pack Pat! 😛
Good news for sharks for a change. Let’s hope the trend continues.
@Seth101 (Comment 2) : LOL. They did actually say 4 weeks, didn’t they?
With Morne Steyn’s performance in the French league and the partnership with FdP, he might just find himself on the bench come World Cup, so sad. Great to have him back, what a player.
@robdylan (Comment 10) : Indeed they did. How long was it? I have no idea what date he got injured.
@Bite me (Comment 11) : Steyn is a technician and Lambie is an engineer. With our one dimensional coach we need the latter but will probably get the former.
@coolfusion (Comment 13) : Agreed and well explained. I think Pat proved himself on the last 2 end of year tours in similar conditions.
@Bite me (Comment 14) : Even this year. He is constantly looking at creating and moving the team forward, keeps his cool even when we are losing. Same can’t be said for Steyn or for that matter Pollard who has suddenly lost his confidence after a poor bills season, which was still a lot better than ours this year but still, old pollie needs an attacking team with a lead before he can shine. ..
Just in time for the semi-finals…oh wait.
@FireTheLooser (Comment 16) : Well played.
Yay…that’s a good way to end off a long day!
@Bite me (Comment 11) : *sigh* …Morne Steyn… *sigh*
@Seth101 (Comment 12) : It was that day we want to forget when that thing happened against that team from that other country by the stuff with the thingies…
